LIFT New Parliment

INTERACTIVITY_CONNECTIVITY_MOVEMENT :

We propose a space which responds and interacts with the people inside. The number of visitors and their activities will have a direct physical impact on the shell of the parliament creating a pulsing/ wave effect to the parliament. This is achieved through sensing and controlling the air input to the air-inflated shell. This process transforms visitors to performers and integrates the activities within the parliament with the parliament architecture itself. The pulse/ wave effects are perceived both internally by the visitors and externally by passer-bys creating a soft link between what is happening within the LIFT parliament and its surrounding context. In certain configurations, visitors in separate spaces of the LIFT new parliament can interact with one another through camera sensing and projection, connecting people in different proximities on a virtual level.

VISIBILITY_ICONIC_INNOVATIVE:

the LIFT new parliament should not be another static structure. Our proposal will have intermittent pulse/ wave effects will draw people’s interest and attention. The movement of the LIFT new parliament makes it a ‘living’ organism, full of life and energy. At night, the movement of the shell will affect the lighting and projection in fluid and surreal ways. It becomes not only a space for meeting and performance, but a performance itself. FLEXIBLE_MOBILE_CONFIGURABLE. We propose a module system which is easy to assemble, configure and transport. Each module consists of a 6x6x3.5m structural cube frame with the weather-proofing shell attached/ ‘plugged in’ to the respective exposed cube faces. The proposed primary frame structures are economical and the size of the components allows them to be easily handled and moved. This frame system is simple to assemble and pack. The nature of the module also allows different configurations to the plan to suit different functions/ needs by simply assembling the modules in different ways.
