The proposed design seeks to review, reinvent and revitalise the concept of reception space, providing CCTV Europe with its own identity .
The new reception design rejects the traditional notion of being just a waiting area; and instead embraces the juxtaposition of different programs into the limited footprint, creating a stimulating and flexible environment for staffs, guests and visitors. Formal introduction of programs such as gallery space, lounge, breakout area, storage and reception space, provides opportunities for the client to curate the space along with the growth of CCTV Europe.
The new reception is designed to be a dynamic zone filled with interest and information. An interactive gallery is introduced from the main entrance to the seating area, illuminating a series of images depicting major cities of Europe. To resolve the limitation of storage space, a set of conceal cupboard is designed to sit discreetly within the existing fabric, housing appliances such as microwave, coffee machine etc. At the seating area, the concept of a cosy lounge is adopted to provide guests with a comfortable waiting zone. Careful selection of materials, textures and colours will allow the reception to mediate between formal and informal, making it an ideal space where informal meeting can take place, creative interactions are facilitated, and staff bonding is enhanced.
To celebrate the idea of east meets west, the design also incorporated a motif screen as a divider between the studio and reception space. This provides privacy while allowing daylight from the studio to spill into the reception space. Adjacent to the seating area, a feature wall is designed to display photos on the activities of CCTV Europe, educating and engaging visitors on the role that CCTV Europe plays within Europe, China and beyond.
